A Florida physical therapist faces a charge of video voyeurism after police say he secretly recorded a 16-year-old girl undressing into a gown before treatment.

Lake Wales Police Department officers arrested Dr. Pola Gayed, 38, DPT of Ava Rehab Clinic, on Monday, according to online court documents. She then had her first court appearance on Tuesday, according to local Fox13 Tampa Bay.

Police said the girl noticed a ring camera in the locker room where she undressed to put on a robe. She then continued with the date without saying anything about the camera, but police say Gayed noticed she was acting unusual. Once she left the exam room, Gayed allegedly unplugged the camera and deleted the footage.

Later that day, the victim told her parents she saw a camera with a recording light on in the room they asked her to change into and they contacted police.

“When our guys went to make the arrest on the 29th, the Ring camera was again in the same location right before our victim’s appointment,” Schulze said.

Gayed is charged with video voyeurism and fabricating physical evidence, both third-degree felonies. His bail was set at $25,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim, according to FOX 13 Tampa Bay.

“She’s obviously shocked. She’s upset about this. She’s a 16-year-old girl. I think any adult would be shocked by that,” Lake Wales police said. Deputy Chief Troy Schulze said during a news conference.

Gayed is from Orlando, according to FOX 13. His bio on AVA Rehab’s website says he has been practicing physical therapy since 2019 and is “very family-oriented and happily married.”

He is the father of “two young children,” WFLA-TV reports.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and they are unsure if there are additional victims. They ask anyone with information about this case or others to contact them at 863-678-4223.
